  • Where to find Good Mountain Bikes

Selecting Good Mountain Bikes begins with choosing the proper type of mountain bike (MTB) for you personally. Yes, everything comes back down to the sort of riding you are doing.

My current bike is thirteen years old but still going strong. The questions I will be about to reveal to you, are the ones I oftentimes tried when researching good mountain bikes personally. Recently I used the same questions to find the best MTB for my nine year old son's birthday. I started researching kids mountain bikes and applied exactly the same inquiries to help pick the best bike for him. I will be pleased to say, the bike is an ideal fit for him and it has renewed his passion of motorcycle riding.

So how do you begin selecting the best bike? By simply asking a number of questions designed enable you to find the best bike to suit your needs.

    What is the riding experience?

What is the age and height is the bike rider?

Is the bike likely to be used for commuting or cross-country riding?

Is the bike going to be employed for mountain cruising?

Is the bike gonna be used for rocky trails?

Is the bike going to be employed for rugged downhill tracks?

Is the bike going to be employed for jumping and aerial tricks?

The type of riding you would like to undertake will greatly influence the style and bike configuration. Although most bikes look similar, there exists a vast difference in frame types, steering geometry, suspension, gearing along with the wheels, brakes and tyres.

As a rule of thumb, a novice rider will best be served by a recreational cross country bike. If you plan to accomplish lots of riding on pavement and off-road, select a model with good front suspension, no rear suspension (hardtail) as they have the best efficiency and luxury. Should you decide to do more off-road riding, a complete suspension frame is most beneficial.

If you plan to use it exclusively off-road and mostly over rough terrain locate a more advanced full suspension model because these may have a greater selection of suspension travel along with a heavier better made frame and brakes. This helps with all the comfort and stability of one's ride.

Downhill MTB's must be very durable in design and also have lower, looser steering geometry. These design changes increase the risk for bike more responsive at fast speeds down steep slopes; these bikes are prepared for the more experienced rider.

With respect to the type of riding you would like to undertake the following is a summary of good MTB brands which has been found to be good quality and good value for cash. They're Giant, Diamondback, Kona, Trek, Norco, Schwinn, Mongoose and GT brand bikes.

The very last thing you have to decide is, do you need good, or would you like cheap. The words "good" and "cheap" aren't synonymous, nor are fantastic bikes generally present in discount department stores.

While researching Kids bikes, I find a renewed adoration for the activity as both my sons are in possession of mountain bikes. We got a new 21 speed - 24 inch "GT Stomper" for my nine yr old son while my eleven years old son rides a 5 year old, 7 speed - 20 inch Schwinn.

My eleven yr old does well to maintain us on our larger and faster bikes. His bike is more agile over jumps and tight tracks. He now desires to upgrade with a larger 26" bike. Because of his age and height, frame selection is critical while he is going through rapid growth spurts. He's currently exactly that little too short for any medium frame size. We're waiting until his next birthday before selecting an excellent bike having a larger frame size he is not going to outgrow prematurely.
